A Stylishly Re-vamped Estepona Is The New Popular Tourist Destination
Up until only ten years ago Estepona was still a sleepy kind of town … driving through it left the distinct impression of passing by a back-drop of some old western movie set … complete with Mexican look-alikes, lazily taking a siesta, sombreros pulled down for shade under the hot mid-day sun.
But then … the money men started to arrive! The town has blossomed over the last decade into a must-see Malaga resort and it is gaining more and more in popularity as a tourist destination.
But, before we go on, take a look at this well put together video which compliments the rest of the article about this lovely piece of Andalucia.
The most beautiful area is by far the stylishly re-vamped promenade, three
kilometres long, that runs the whole length of Rada Beach (which has
recently been awarded the coveted European Blue Flag for its pristine
presentation.) And a generous scattering of rustic-style beach bars have sprung up along
this elegant sea-shore adding even more to its attractions.
Although Estepona has experienced an incredible growth in recent years,
this pretty Malaga town remains at heart very Spanish and real estate
investment has kept mainly to the outskirts of the municipality …
and the Marina area (a very lively place with bumper to bumper yachts, bars,
restaurants and a great open-air market on Sundays) has also seen its share of
new-build properties …
as well as the stretch between Marbella and Estepona … now
known as the New Golden Mile … thanks to the proliferation there of
superb 5* hotels and apartment complexes.
This same area is where to find two of the most important attractions of this stretch of coast ...
Selwo Safari Park
a huge tropical park-land where visitors
can come in close to view an enormous variety of birds and animals living
happily just as nature intended.
Plus, there’s the super-modern Equestrian School which is
closely connected to the Jerez Riding School with its famous dancing
horses.
The centre is situated only one kilometre from the beach and offers a different type
of tourist development to the coast with some of the best facilities in
Andalusia and hosting international jumping and dressage competitions
all year round. Definitely worth a visit!
Further inland there’s also plenty of pretty country to explore. The pine
forest and picnic areas of the Sierra Bermeja Mountains are less than one
hours drive away. Even closer is the lovely Los Pedregales Park … just
five kilometres from town. The park boasts a restaurant, camping, BBQ areas,
forest paths and accommodations in the form of cabañas which can be
hired throughout the year.
All in all Estepona is getting a much more interesting place to live and
is one of the Malaga towns that seems to be ticking the boxes for new
residents to the coast looking for a home away from the hustle and bustle
of the more populated areas. Could you be one of them ?
