COSTA DEL SOL – STREET MARKETS

A visit to one of the street markets to browse or to pick up a bargain or two is usually high on the list when visiting anywhere new … and you’ve certainly got a bunch to choose from here on the Costa del Sol …

But you and I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea … so, … trying to keep all the family happy … we’re going to pick out the ones that have something else going for them apart from cheap shoes and handbags …

Puerto Banus on Tuesday is an obvious choice … … it is situated by the Puerto Banus Bullring so because of its´ proximity to the port it’s easy to drop the boys off there to view the yachts and the luxury cars leaving the girls free to bargain hunt.

Also on Tuesdays, Fuengirola presents a sprawling open air bazaar in the towns Fairground. It is hugely popular and tour buses come along from most coastal towns to visit.

As for Estepona on Sunday morning … the action takes place in the port itself. As in Puerto Banus there is something for everyone. It is easy to lose those who don’t consider a trip around the market as the highlight of the holiday !

Sotogrande on Sundays is also very worthy of a mention. Especially if you haven’t visited Sotogrande before … then you have a treat in store … Hollywood more or less sums it up … sumptuous mansions, elegant marina, sophisticated bars and restaurants, bumper to bumper yachts …

… and for the boys there’s plenty going on to while away a couple of hours whilst Mum has fun bartering her way around. By the way, whilst you’re there, please visit our friends, Bill and Sonia who have a silver stall … everything at bargain prices (!)

… and if none of the above fits in with your trip here’s a complete list for your open-air shopping:

Monday - Marbella

Tuesday - Fuengirola, Nerja and Puerto Banus

Wednesday - La Cala, Mijas and Estepona

Thursday - San Pedro, Torre del Mar, Nerja and Torremolinos

Friday - Benalmadena and Manilva

Saturday - Fuengirola and Nueva Andalucia

Sunday - Sotogrande

Have fun !
